Matt Page

Matt was born and raised in the greater Seattle Washington area. He began studying music as a trumpet player in school bands, than eventually switched to the drums by early High School. Jazz became an immediate interest for Matt and he soon found himself participating in both the instrumental and vocal ensembles offered in his school. During his High School career, he was recognized on over 25 occasions for outstanding musicianship at various jazz festivals throughout the Country. In 2005 Matt graduated from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA with a degree in Commercial Music. Since his return to the Northwest in 2006, Matt has firmly planted his roots in the Seattle jazz scene. Exceptional musicality, coupled by a kind, personable demeanor has created demand for him as both a performer as well as an educator. He has had the great honor of performing with many great jazz artists such as Bobby Shew, Pete Christlieb, Eddie Daniels, Jay Leonhart and Louise Rose.

Currently, Matt has been performing as a member of the Reuel Lubag Trio and Chris Morton Trio. He regularly accompanies many great Seattle based vocalists, including Karen Shivers and his wife, Diana Page. Matt will be releasing his first album as a band leader in 2011. This project will showcase Matt’s original tunes as well as arrangements of standard, well known melodies. Joining him will be Jon Hamar on bass and Eric Verlinde on piano.
